Upgrading SK Bandar Kuala Krai Library

Other than upgrading Senior Methodist Girls School (MGS) Kuala Lumpur Library, the Library also participated in upgrading SK Bandar Kuala Krai Library on 23rd and 24th July 2016. A team consist of 6 Library staff participated in the IMU Cares Project. It is a jointly programme organized by IMU Clinical Campus called Conversational English Programme, in which to enhance English proficiency among schoolchildren. The Library team’s objective in this programme is mainly focus on upgrading the School Library – Pusat Sumber Sekolah (PSS). Planning & preparations process for the event started in January 2016.

Activities that being conducted during the 2 days are as per below:
1.    Rearrangement of library physical set-up
2.    Sorting and re-shelving the books based on Dewey Decimal Classification System
3.    Setting up the Library Automated System (KOHA)
4.    Setting up the Network system
5.    Library Games (Library Hidden Object and Library Word Search) to attract students to come to the library
6.    Setting up a book exhibition corner to promote the books in the library.
7.    Training for teachers and Library Prefects on KOHA system and DDC.

Overall, the teachers were very grateful that we managed to help them sorting the books, rearranging the library set-up to be more conducive for the users and presenting a systematic library system for the School Library. We were delighted with the feedback and satisfied with the outcome after putting much work in making the activities a success.
