1. Which feature(s) I like the most about the database?
Personally, I like how all the materials are categorized neatly into three components – medical exhibit, medical illustration and medical animation. I can find the type of material, tailored to my needs with just one click (okay, maybe two clicks)! For example, I can conveniently obtain images to insert into reports or videos for presentations. Not to mention, the resolution of the illustrations, as well as animations is exceptionally high. Furthermore, SMART provides citation which minimises my workload.

2.  Has the database benefit you in your learning process?
Yes, significantly. I am visual and auditory learner. Hence, I am particularly fond of the various academic animations provided by SMART. For instance, I face great difficulties trying to understand the ventricular flow. I fail to visualise the structure and therefore the directional flow of cerebrospinal fluid. This is easily overcome with the help of a few videos. Other than anatomical videos, SMART also has videos and images on various pathological conditions. These pictures and videos are very precise; hence they serve good recap or last minute revision materials. Also, not to forget, SMART allows its users to play videos at different speed – 1x, 1.25x, 1.5x, 1.75x and 2x. This makes my learning process more effective.

3. Does the database suit you or any other programs and why?
Yes, I would say it is best suited for medical students. All the materials are very relevant to our course structure. For students from other programs, I would say SMART can be really helpful if you spend some extra time to browse and filter the materials.

4. Would you recommend this database to your colleagues and why?
Yes, definitely. As we all know, the VAK (Visual, Auditory and Kinaesthetic) style of learning is very effective. With SMART, you can checklist the first two elements and all you need is jot down the key points. Moreover, SMART is extremely easy to access and it has a wide variety of learning materials available.
